Feb 21, I'm looking for a mini excavator for home use which would be mainly removing stumps after cutting down lodgepole pines from my forested 10 acres. I've never owned or used a mini excavator but need a replacement for a backhoe on my tractor which could dig up the stumps but took a long time.
afret, Feb 20, Oct 05, You can dig them out with a 10, lb. excavator in 4 days easy enough, just leave the tree whole and dig around it then push it over. Pile it to the side w/thumb and move to the next one. Then take tractor w/ grapple and clean up.
Then take box blade and grade everything out. Dec 28, I read it as"hedge stumps" a foot tall. I'd agree a foot tall hedge would be easy to remove.
The mini excavator is the way to go. It won't damage the lawn much and will make quick work of the stumps. Glad to see the stump grinder worked for you.
I don't like to take the time. I can remove and dump faster then grind.
